PROTECTED RICHES

Sines is located on one of the best preserved coastlines in Europe. The southern part of the Sines Municipality is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vincentine Coast Nature Park, which extends from São Torpes to the Algarve. The landscape includes steeps cliffs, small beaches, dune systems, streams, marshes and hills. The diversity of the area is unmatched in Portugal, providing an exciting landscape experience.

ENJOYING THE SEA: SURFING, WINDSURFING, BODY-BOARDING, FISHING, DIVING, BOATING...

São Torpes is a paradise for the region’s surfers. Its surf schools are open all year and offer lessons for all ages and levels. Almost the whole district is suitable for rod fishing, with São Torpes and the coast north of Sines being the favourite areas. There are a wide variety of locations to choose from for diving and underwater fishing. Sailing and kayak lessons are also available in Sines. In the summer, Pessegueiro Island and other seaside areas can be visited by boat.

ADVENTURE AND NATURE SPORTS

By foot, bicycle or jeep, the inland of the Sines municipality abounds in interesting places to visit, from the almost secret Sancha Lagoon, in the north of the district, to the ruins at Cabeça da Cabra, Provença and Sonega. The best way to enjoy the inlands of the district, away from the coast, is by participating in nature sports. In Sines, companies organise activities suited to the requirements of a wide range of customers, from mountain-bike riding, canoeing, rappel, slide, paintball, rope manoeuvres and many others. Horse riding lessons are also available.
