DISTANCES

Sines is 150 kilometres south of Lisbon, the nearest city with an airport.

TRANSPORT AND ROUTES

Sines can be reached by road or express bus.

Two main routes can be followed if you are driving to Sines from Lisbon or Setúbal, : 1) Take the A2 motorway, leave the motorway at the Grândola exit and follow the IP8 and IC33 roads; or 2) Take the car ferry from Setúbal to Tróia and follow the coastal road to Sines.

The intercity bus company that serves Sines is known as Rede Expressos. Timetables can be consulted at the company’s website (www.rede-expressos.pt) or by telephoning the Sines road transport terminal (see contacts below).

The express bus currently stops in Sines outside the Health Centre (Centro de Saúde), 400 metres northeast of the castle. The stop for Porto Covo is next to the market, about 50 metres from Marquês de Pombal Square.

There is no railway connection to Sines.

LENGHT OF JOURNEYS

It takes about 90 minutes to drive from Lisbon to Sines. The express bus journey takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
