The Arts Centre of Sines offers four different facilities in a single building, designed by the prize-winning Atelier Aires Mateus: an Art Gallery, the new Municipal Library, an Auditorium with 175 seats and the Historical Municipal Archives.

Inaugurated in 2005, the centre works as a bridge between the old and the modern parts of the city. Its bold, innovating architecture makes it a notable contemporary monument in Sines and one of the best examples of contemporary Portuguese architecture, having been selected for the European Mies van der Rohe Award.
