THE CAPE VERDIAN ASSOCIATION OF SINES AND SANTIAGO DO CACÉM
The ACSSC defends the cultural values and rights of immigrants from Cape Verde, Cape-Verdian descendents and immigrants of other nationalities residing in the same area. Starting out as an informal group in the 1980s and re-launched in 1997, the association has hundreds of members today.
The Association disseminates Cape Verdian culture, either through its own initiatives, or in local festivities organised by the City Council. It also does social work and helps immigrants tackle the difficulties of getting their residence permits.
The Association is an active member of the Guaranteed Minimum Income subsidy committee.
The ACSSC is also responsible for the Local Assistance Committee for the Immigrants of Sines.
